Help Me was written by Sonny Boy Williamson, Willie Dixon and Ralph Bass and recorded in 1963, based on Booker T's Green Onions. Here's our take on this blues classic with Doug Steigerwald (guitar/vocals), Eric Gunn (drums) and Eric Malmberg (bass) and Deenie Rose as Studio Engineer.

I want to introduce my Santa Cruz blues band: Blues Suspects with Eric Gunn on drums and Eric Malmberg on bass. We went to our good friend Deenie Rose's studio to rehearse and do some live recording of a few songs including this great Willie Dixon song. Bo Diddly first recorded it in 1962 and it was then covered by lots of great bands including the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Hi All -- here's my version of Blind Willie McTell's Statesboro Blues. I recorded the backing track with my Jazz Bass and programmed the drums with Superior Drummer 3 software. Both the lead and rhythm guitar parts were recorded with a "66 Bassman head into a UA Ox feeding Pro Tools 12. Thanks for listening!!

Here's my version of this blues classic written by Roy Hawkins and Rick Darnell in 1951. Of course, almost everyone knows it as done by BB King which of course is the standard. I thought it would be fun to try my own spin on this great song. Hope you like it!

Behind the Music

Blues Suspects is a Santa Cruz, Ca-based 4 piece band that focuses on original songs as well as original interpretations of blues classics and musical forms from many spectrums. The band includes Doug Steigerwald (guitar/vocals), Eric Gunn (drums), Eric Malmberg (bass) and Mike Morgan (harp). All 4 members have been performing musicians for over 30 years each from New York, to Las Vegas, San Francisco and the SF Bay area. They are currently writing materials for their first CD together as a band.
